I see a lot of my clients wanting more clients of their own and more dependable income.
And they think that if they just sign another private, fill another workshop or gain an extra 1k followers, then they’ll be happy.
But these aren’t the metrics to go by.
I’m not denying that money in the bank is a joyful thing. Or that welcoming a new 1:1 client into your space doesn’t make you sing. Of course, it does!
👉 But the key to growing a successful (ie happy-making) yoga business is to make decisions based on what you want to feel more of rather than just ‘having’ more.
👉 Because the money in the bank is meaningless if it doesn’t bring you pleasure to work with the people who paid you.
👉 And the Instagram likes mean zilch if they’re not converting to meaningful conversations and clients who light you up.
In the same way that you choose who to socialise with, who to date or who to marry, you also get to choose who your clients are based on how it feels to work with them.
So, what do you want to FEEL by working with certain people?
Maybe it’s
A deep emotional connection
Intellectual stimulation
Joy, laughter and levity
Informality and openness
The feeling of being friends with your clients
The sense that none of this feels like hard work any more
Whatever you desire in life, it’s because you want to fulfil a specific emotional need.
I like to use the example that when I wanted to buy a car, it wasn’t a 1-ton hunk of metal, 4 wheels, and a steering wheel that I was after. What I wanted was the FEELING of freedom, independence, and maturity that, in my mind, came with having one.
And in my search for a life partner, I don’t just want any old body. I want to feel seen, valued, and held. I want to feel that our values are aligned and to feel emotionally safe with this person.
👉 When you make decisions based on what you want to feel, you prioritise the desired emotional outcome over just having the thing.
So, if you're craving more joy in your business but you're not experiencing it yet, ask yourself:
✅ Am I clear about what I want to feel in my work?
✅ What are the 5 feelings I want more of?
✅ Have I been saying yes to things and people that drain my energy, or which add to my energy bank?
✅ How can I tune in and listen to my needs so I can make empowered choices?
✅ Am I being honest about what I really want from my business?
These are the questions you need to ask yourself.
Your business is a reflection of your priorities.
