January 23, 2023

What are the benefits of being a trauma informed yoga teacher?

- You know how to identify what’s going on for people by reading body language, eye contact and physical cues

- You know how to offer practices that will create equilibrium in a dysregulated nervous system and promote safe healing

- You have confidence in what you teach and how you set up the space for people impacted by trauma

- You know how to limit the risk of retraumatisation

- You understand the different ways trauma can manifest in the mind and body

- You can explain why you’re offering certain practices and what they’re doing for people neurophysiologically

- You open the door to working more deeply with people

- You understand your role as a teacher — and what your limitations are

- You know how to set boundaries that protect you and your students

- You know how to work with a diverse group of people

- You know how to identify places where your work is needed

- You open opportunities for working in a broad and impactful variety of spaces

- You understand how safety is an essential precursor to connection and healing
