Square Breath for Balancing Mind & Body
Square breath is a yogic breath work practice (or pranayama) that brings balance to the mind and body, the nervous system and the hemispheres of the brain. It's a wonderful way of creating mental focus, clarity and a sense of inner balance.
We'll visualise the drawing of a square as we inhale, hold, exhale, hold and so on, all for an equal length of time. This helps us keep track of the breath and focus the mind, tethering and anchoring the practice for a mind that is easily distracted (like most of us).
Like all new practices, this one can take a little bit of practice but once you've got the hang of it, it's totally portable and can be practiced anywhere discretely - even on public transport.
